Impressions of the PropTech

Innovation Summit 2019

Jörn Stobbe

COO and Management Board member at Union Investment Real Estate GmbH

“The PropTech Innovation Summit attracts around 400 real estate professionals to Berlin every year. Passion for new horizons and groundbreaking digital solutions meets industry experience and the responsibility for managing a wide range of property assets. This mix gives the PropTech Innovation Summit its special business character and makes it a must- attend event for anyone interested in the future of the real estate sector.”

Marion Peyinghaus

Managing Director at CCPMRE

“Innovations are often the result of interdisciplinary cooperation. When experts from different disciplines meet, prevailing thought patterns are broken up and new approaches to solutions are identified. It is precisely this lateral thinking that will drive the real estate industry forward and we will see some of these new ideas at the PropTech Innovation Award. An interdisciplinary approach is also needed to cope with future challenges. Digitisation has a technical origin, but we have to master the greatest change in the social field. The way we work will change – for each individual employee and also for companies in their collaboration.”

Tina Paillet

FRICS, Chair of RICS in Europe

“I look forward to being a jury member for the PropTech Innovation Awards this year. Harnessing the creative energy of the new generation of tech savvy professionals to produce innovative built environment solutions is the key challenge put to the contestants. It is through competitions like this that people from all walks of life come together to creatively solve issues related to the growing global demand for new infrastructure, new ways of working and living, client focussed and operationally efficient real estate. That’s why RICS is supporting once again this global technology competition.”

Maarten de Haas

Head of Business Development at PHYSEE Technologies

“I’m excited to be part of the German Proptech Innovation Award Jury this year. Over the past years, we’ve seen an ever growing focus on Proptech within the real estate industry, and this is not without a reason. 90% of our time is spent inside buildings, which account for 40% of the global energy demand. Therefore it’s time to make our buildings more energy efficient, healthy and smart, with a human centered approach. Proptech companies drive the innovations which are necessary to improve our buildings, therefore I’m looking forward to meet the start-ups who will be pitching their solutions this year!”

The VOXELGRID system is the most cost‐effective basis for introducing BIM (Building Information Modeling) for existing buildings. Existing buildings without reliable planning documents account for around 95% of the entire global real estate portfolio. VOXELGRID is using a set of imaging methods for outside and indoor data acquisition. The data is then further processed using proprietary algorithms, including the Deep Learning method, to generate 2D and 3D building data for existing buildings.

As a proptech from Hamburg, Germany (2017) we developed the Real Estate Operating System (REOS) to support landlords and asset managers in managing and operating their facilities and rental processes digitally and in real time. Our leading real estate project “Carnaby Living House Berlin” became Germany ́s first digital student accommodation. REOS covers the entire rental cycle digitally from the conclusion of the lease agreement to the return of the apartment. It was our goal to integrate various IoT hardware components like smart meters, digital locks and bell systems within one system. It consists of a web platform and an app. The results are tremendous advantages in terms of time, cost savings and service quality.

casavi GmbH

Casavi is a Munich based company founded in 2015. A team of 40 people supports now 200+ customers in the DACH region with innovative thinking, agility & team spirit. Bao Living

Bao Living is a company based in Antwerp, Belgium that designs and sells products that make the construction of living spaces more affordable and more sustainable. The construction sector is a slow moving giant. Ingrained and outdated methods of constructing homes are slow to die out and the process itself is filled with inefficiencies from the inception to the completion of a project. The sector also remains one of the least productive and least sustainable whilst also being the most wasteful. In Europe alone the sector accounts for over a 1/3 of the materials produced and around 40% of EU waste is construction and demolition waste.

Tatami is a revolutionary, universal system of modular housing that is designed for international use, and aims to solve the affordable housing crisis endured by millions of people around the world. The affordable housing crises we now face throughout the world require a similarly universal solution. Our proposition is that this solution lies in sustainability and adaptability. With a modular system that is completely customizable, programmable and recyclable, a building can be adapted for use in various climates, cultures, lifestyles, temperatures, and its lifecycle extended indefinitely through maintenance and upgrades rather than demolition. An adaptable mass timber modular system, sourced from sustainable forests, can adapt to climate change through reconfigurations of the building typology through a reorganization and reuse of individual modular components.
